Sugar Glider - Is it a Pet For You?

Sugar gliders live an average of 9 years in the wild, and 12-15 years in captivity. Needless to say that if you acquired such pet you would need to be ready to take care of it for over a decade. Of course, there is always the possibility to resale or give your sugar glider away in case you wouldn't be able to take care of it anymore, but this is the last thing that should dominate your mind as a responsible pet owner when you decide to purchase one.

What would be the reasons why sugar gliders would not be for you?

1) A sugar glider is not the right pet for you if you are spending a lot of time traveling. You can't bring your exotic pet on your travels with you, and you can't leave it alone for days at the time. Unless you have a reliable pet sitter who can take care of your exotic pet every day during your absence, this kind of pet would not be a good fit for you.

2) If you are too lazy to clean the cat litter box or take the dog for a walk, the little sugar bears from Australia are not for you, because you need to know that you will need to keep their cage clean on a daily basis.

3) If you are overall too busy on a daily basis as it is, then the undertaking of an extra responsibility such as caring for a little exotic pet which will need your attention and care, might not be the right thing for you at this time.

Take all the pros and cons into consideration when it comes to acquiring an exotic pet such as those lovely little animals from the woodlands of Australia which need all the time, care and love that you can give them.
This way you will be making sure that you will be the perfect owner for a sugar glider.
